Self-Care/Community Care Workshop Series

I have had the great privilege of offering this two-part workshop series on self-care and community care to over 150 social justice leaders and organizations from all over the West Coast since June, partnering with clients such as the Satterberg Foundation and the BIPOC Executive Directors Coalition of Washington. Participants have called it “soul-nourishing",” “deeply impactful…I learned that caring for myself is an act of revolution.” If you are interested in offering this for your staff and/or board of directors, please reach out to me. In these most tumultuous times, we so desperately need access to tools, strategies and concepts that will strengthen our leaders for the long haul!

Session 1: Caring for Ourselves in Times of Change: Self-Care in the Workplace

In these unprecedented times of transformation and upheaval, how do we develop and strengthen the skills to ground and center ourselves in our authentic power as everything around us changes? With a decolonizing lens and holistic framework, we'll learn about the physiological impacts of stress on our bodies and our work, and together explore simple but powerful techniques to care for ourselves so that we can fully care for our communities, and foster more joy and authentic connection in our lives. In a nonjudgmental and intentional space of community building, you will come out of this session with a simple wellness plan and hopefully new friends!

Session 2: Building Organizations of Healing: Integrating Healing Justice into Our Organizations and Movements

Building on the previous workshop, we will revisit our wellness plans, and then zoom out to learn about the Healing Justice movement, originating from the brilliance of BIPOC Southern healers, and be inspired by organizational initiatives and best practices. Together, we will understand how healing is an integral part of our social change movements, a vital political strategy that builds and sustains our efforts over the long-term. We will explore simple ways of integrating these strategies and tools into our own organizations and movements. How do we build organizations and movements that center the wellness of our communities at every level?
